Founded in 2016, Millar is a Taiwanese brand with its workshop based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Millar is currently the only handcrafted, small-batch production factory in Taiwan dedicated to building high-end solid-wood ukuleles. With over 40 years of instrument-making experience, our craftsmanship originates from traditional guitar building and has evolved into today’s refined ukulele production.
Our Executive Director, Master Hung Ching-Feng, is responsible for machine tooling design and the creative development of each ukulele model. His father, Master Hung Wen, Millar’s Chief Technical Officer, has over four decades of experience in luthiery and mold manufacturing, and has served as a production consultant for several leading brands. Together, the father-and-son team combines precision mold engineering with Japanese-inspired quality control, merging innovation with tradition to create the unique character that defines every Millar ukulele.
Before returning to Taiwan, Master Hung Ching-Feng worked in Guangdong, China, specializing in instrument manufacturing. His exceptional craftsmanship and innovative ideas made him a highly respected figure in the industry. After returning to Kaohsiung, the family devoted themselves fully to ukulele making—preserving and refining their own techniques that have never been shared externally.
At that time, the ukulele market was flooded with mass-produced, inexpensive instruments. While many factories focused on volume rather than quality, Master Hung envisioned a different path—one that values artistry, precision, and soul. From the very beginning, Millar has focused exclusively on handcrafted solid-wood ukuleles, limiting production to around 200 instruments per month to ensure exceptional quality.
Step by step, the family has built their dream with dedication and integrity—creating Taiwan-made, high-quality handcrafted ukuleles that embody both innovation and tradition.
創立於2016年的台灣品牌，工廠座落於台灣高雄市。Millar為台灣目前唯一手工量產的高階全單烏克麗麗工廠，從吉他到現在的烏克麗麗，擁有超過40年的製琴技術。
現任執行總監洪慶楓師傅，主要負責生產機具的刀模以及琴款設計的發想。洪慶楓師傅的父親 - Millar技術長洪文師傅，擁有40年的製琴和模具製造經驗，曾任各大廠牌的生產顧問。父子兩人將各自的專長結合，「刀模的工藝科技」和「日式嚴格的一貫化標準作業技術」，同時具有創新和古法的作業，讓Millar的烏克麗麗與眾不同。
洪慶楓師傅幾年前在中國廣東從事樂器技術相關的工作，由於技術純熟又有創新，是被極度重視和禮遇的人才。回到台灣高雄後，開始了烏克麗麗生產的作業，將沒有外流的技術和製程，一家人開始了製琴的工作。
在當時的烏克麗麗市場，充斥著各種廉價的彩琴，末端的銷售只需要大量的貨物，對於品質並不是很講究。有許多客戶要向工廠委託大量的彩琴或是玩具合板琴，但洪慶楓師傅認為，這一趟「回家」要有意義，要做出與眾不同的品質和市場。
所以工廠從一開始，都只有全單的手工烏克麗麗。一個月最多200把的烏克麗麗，是維護品質的產量。一家人腳踏實地，逐步完成自己心中的理想，做出高品質的台灣手工烏克麗麗。
